General Automotive Company (GAC), the official distributors for Mitsubishi in Oman, has successfully completed the fourth and final trip of its annual desert excursion, the ‘Team Pajero Desert Adventure’. Taking place in the second week of February, the trip saw just over 240 people in 52 Mitsubishi Pajeros drive into desert for a weekend of fun and adventure. Organised by GAC specifically for Pajero owners and enthusiasts, each of these trips gives Pajero owners a taste of a true desert adventure in the vehicle best suited to handle the challenge.

Driven by popular demand, the Team Pajero Desert Adventure had been split into four separate groups this year, the most recent being the final of the four trips. The next series of trips are one again expected to being in the final quarter of the year.
Commenting on the Desert Adventure, Manoj Ranade, the GM of General Automotive Company said: “Providing our customers with an opportunity to experience the true off-road capabilities of the Pajero under the watchful eye of a fully equipped crew of Marshalls and mechanics has always been the core objective of our annual Team Pajero Desert Adventures. It is also the reason behind its immense success and popularity, and the demand for which has been growing with each passing year. In fact, each of the trips we conducted this year have been a grand success, and collectively, including the latest trip, we have taken over 1000 customers and 220 Pajeros into Wahiba Sands over just these past four months.”
The final trip, which began at the Mitsubishi Showroom on the morning of February 10, saw just under 240 Mitsubishi customers in 52 Pajeros, set off towards the desert. They were guided by GAC staff members in Marshall Vehicles on a predefined course as they headed to the Al Raha Camp at the Wahiba Sands.

Once at the Al Raha Camp, the convoy of Pajero vehicles were escorted by Marshalls and provided with specialised desert driving training. The drivers were then taken on a dune bashing session, after which the group is taken atop a dune overlooking the camp to witness the stunning sunset. Once back at the camp a large number of activities and entertainment was prepared for the families to enjoy. The following morning, Camel riding sessions and dune bikes were provided for the customers to use at their discretion. The convoy left the camp and returned to the Azaiba showroom shortly after.
Reiterating the success of the ‘Pajero Adventure’, B S Rana, one of the Mitsubishi customers who attended the final event said, “It was a wonderful experience being a part of Team Pajero Desert Adventure. My family enjoyed every moment of the tour. The manner in which it was organised reflects high levels of professionalism and quality I have gotten used to with the brand. The hospitality and personal care shown to us by the entire staff at GAC was highly appreciated. I will most definitely try to participate in the Team Pajero Desert Adventure in the coming years as well.”
“The entire event was fantastic and was enjoyed by my entire family. I personally enjoyed the dunes driving experience the most. The Pajero has proven its robustness and durability in even the toughest conditions. I have to say that the Pajero is not only value for money, but has also been a real asset to our company. I would like to express my sincere gratitude to all members of the GAC team for their guidance, patience, and support throughout the entire trip,” added N. Appa Rao, another Pajero customer who attended the trip.
“This most recent trip brings our Team Pajero Desert Adventures for 2016 – 2017 to a close. On behalf of the management at GAC I would like to thank all the staff at GAC for their hard work on organising and overseeing each of the trips. I would also like to thank all our customers for their participation in these events, without whom these trips would never have seen the success and popularity they enjoy today. I look forward to seeing many of them in the next series of trips as well, together with the new faces that will join the ever growing Pajero family in 2017,” added Manoj.
