MITSUBISHI SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETES THIRD TEAM PAJERO DESERT ADVENTURE

General Automotive Company (GAC), the official distributors for Mitsubishi in Oman, has successfully completed the third of a total four planned trips of its annual desert excursion, the ‘Team Pajero Desert Adventure’. Taking place in the second week of January, the trip saw just over 300 people in 60 Mitsubishi Pajeros drive into desert for a weekend of fun and adventure. Organised by GAC specifically for Pajero owners and enthusiasts, each of these trips gives Pajero owners a taste of a true desert adventure in the vehicle best suited to handle the challenge – the Mitsubishi Pajero. Registrations are open for the final trip, which is to take place in February.

Driven by popular demand, the Team Pajero Desert Adventure has been split into four separate groups this year, the first three of which have now been completed; with the final taking place next month. All Mitsubishi Pajero owners in the Sultanate are invited to register for the upcoming trip at the Mitsubishi Showroom in Athaiba.

Commenting on the Desert Adventure, Manoj Ranade, the GM of General Automotive Company said: “It has been a constant endeavour for us to organise events which capture the imagination of our customers as well as allowing them to experience the fantastic capabilities of our vehicles. Our highly anticipated annual ‘Team Pajero Desert Adventures’ is just such an event; that has been carefully planned out in order to provide our customers with an opportunity to experience the true off-road capabilities of the Pajero; backed by the safety and security of a fully equipped crew of Marshalls and mechanics.”

The third trip, which began at the Mitsubishi Showroom on the morning of January 13, saw just under 300 Mitsubishi customers in 60 Pajeros, set off towards the desert. They were guided by GAC staff members in Marshall Vehicles on a predefined course as they headed to the Al Raha Camp at the Wahiba Sands.

Once at the Al Raha Camp, the convoy of Pajero vehicles were escorted by Marshalls and provided with specialised desert driving training. The drivers were then taken on a dune bashing session, after which the group is taken atop a dune overlooking the camp to witness the stunning sunset. Once back at the camp a large number of activities and entertainment was prepared for the families to enjoy. The following morning, Camel riding sessions and dune bikes were provided for the customers to use at their discretion. The convoy left the camp and returned to the Azaiba showroom shortly after.

Reiterating the success of the ‘Pajero Adventure’, Jayesh Kharva, a Mitsubishi customer who attended the third event said, “The experience with Team Pajero over the years has gotten even better with each passing year. This year in particular, the dune track route setup was amazing and full of thrills. Kudos to the whole team for their support and guidance, and for keeping the momentum going. Even one of my colleagues, who only purchased the Pajero very recently and had never ever driven a vehicle off-road, was able to drive effortlessly on the dunes on his maiden trip to Wahiba by followed all the instructions given by the Marshals and the capabilities of the Pajero. Overall a big thank you to Team Pajero from my family and myself for making us feel like one big family and providing a us with a wonderful experience which we will always cherish.”

“With the third trip now successfully behind us, there is just one more to go in February. However, dur to its growing demand and with limited space available per trip, most spaces are already booked. We encourage any Pajero owner still wishing to take part in the final trip to register with us at the earliest before all spaces are occupied,” added Manoj.

In its latest iteration, the Mitsubishi Pajero offers a modern look with a revised front grille and an aggressively shaped bumper with integrated LED daytime running lamps. The legendary vehicle is packed with features that make it a pleasure to drive both on the road and off. From the power of its 3.5 or 3.8 litre MIVEC engine through to a comprehensive suite of safety features, the Pajero was designed from the ground-up to cope with any kind of driving condition. Whether highway cruising, urban driving or more challenging off-road adventures in the wadis and dunes of the Sultanate, the Pajero has proved its mettle time and again.

The roomy interior of the Pajero accommodates seven people and is equipped with a manual Dual AC, CD player with four speakers, Overhead Console with Sunglass storage, Map Lamp and Trip Computer with an Information Centre. Also available, is Mitsubishi’s Multi Communication System (MMCS) with Voice Command via steering wheel controls, an 850-watt Rockford Acoustic Design 12-Speaker Premium Audio System and electro-chromatic rear-view mirror. As a result of its multifaceted characteristics the Pajero is extremely popular with families, businesses and individuals across the Sultanate.
