MITSUBISHI SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETES FIRST SET OF TEAM PAJERO DESERT ADVENTURES
General Automotive Company (GAC), the official distributors for Mitsubishi in Oman, has successfully completed the first two of a total four planned trips of its annual desert excursion, the ‘Team Pajero Desert Adventure’. Taking place in the second week of November and the third week of December respectively, each of the two day trips saw just over 278 people in 60 Mitsubishi Pajeros and 294 people in 61 Mitsubishi Pajeros respectively drive into desert for a weekend of fun and adventure. Organised by GAC specifically for Pajero owners and enthusiasts, each of these trips gives Pajero owners a taste of a true desert adventure in the vehicle best suited to handle the challenge – the Mitsubishi Pajero.
Driven by popular demand, the Team Pajero Desert Adventure has been split into four separate groups this year, the first of which has been completed. The second trip took place last weekend and will be followed by a further two trips in January and February respectively. All Mitsubishi Pajero owners in the Sultanate are invited to register for the upcoming trips at the Mitsubishi Showroom in Athaiba.
Commenting on the Desert Adventure, Manoj Ranade, the GM of General Automotive Company said: “Our annual ‘Team Pajero Desert Adventure’ are a highly anticipated series of events for our Pajero customers, providing them with an opportunity to experience the true scope of the Pajero’s off-road capabilities. As a result they are extremely popular and free spaces get booked up fast. Furthermore, these trips also provide us with an opportunity to strengthen our relationships with our customers, allowing us to meet with them in person in a more casual environment and get a better understanding of their overall experience with their vehicles and our after sales services so far.”
The first event, which began at the Mitsubishi Showroom on the morning of November 11, saw just under 260 Mitsubishi customers and 18 GAC staff members set off towards the desert in 50 Customer Pajeros and 10 Marshall Vehicles. The second trip which, as with the firs, also began at the Mitsubishi Showroom on the morning of December 23, saw 276 Mitsubishi customers and 18 GAC staff members undertake the trip, this time in 51 Customer Pajeros and 10 Marshall Vehicles. All participants on both trips followed a predefined course as they headed to the Al Raha Camp at the Wahiba Sands.
Once at the Al Raha Camp, the convoy of Pajero vehicles were escorted by Marshalls and provided with specialised desert driving training. The drivers were then taken on a dune bashing session, after which the group is taken atop a dune overlooking the camp to witness the stunning sunset. Once back at the camp a large number of activities and entertainment was prepared for the families to enjoy. The following morning, Camel riding sessions and dune bikes were provided for the customers to use at their discretion. The convoy left the camp and returned to the Azaiba showroom shortly after.
Reiterating the success of the ‘Pajero Adventure’, Gaurav Sohal, a Mitsubishi customer who attended the second event in December said, “This was my first time participation in team pajero and I can say with confidence it was one of my best adventure experience so far in Oman. I was little skeptical initially on the capability of my vehicle, a Montero sport 3.0, for sand bashing in front of its bigger Pajero cousins. However, I have to admit the vehicle proved itself and I loved driving it on the sand dunes. My first vehicle in Oman was the 2012 Outlander and I can say with confidence that choosing a Mitsubishi again was the right decision. Thumbs up for all the crew and marshals of Team Pajero, who planned the event meticulously; it could not have been better! All the support and driving instructions were precise and relevant. The stay was pleasant and the hospitality extended by the team was very good. Keep up the good work and all the best. I look forward to participating in similar events in future.”
“Although with the first two trips are successfully behind us, we still have more coming up over the next two months. The Team Pajero Adventure has welcomed a growing number of Pajero owners with every passing year and with limited space available per trip, most of which are already booked. We encourage any Pajero owner still wishing to take part in any of the upcoming trips to register with us at the earliest,” added Manoj.
In its latest iteration, the Mitsubishi Pajero offers a modern look with a revised front grille and an aggressively shaped bumper with integrated LED daytime running lamps. The legendary vehicle is packed with features that make it a pleasure to drive both on the road and off. From the power of its 3.5 or 3.8 litre MIVEC engine through to a comprehensive suite of safety features, the Pajero was designed from the ground-up to cope with any kind of driving condition. Whether highway cruising, urban driving or more challenging off-road adventures in the wadis and dunes of the Sultanate, the Pajero has proved its mettle time and again.
The roomy interior of the Pajero accommodates seven people and is equipped with a manual Dual AC, CD player with 4 speakers, Overhead Console with Sunglass storage, Map Lamp and Trip Computer with an Information Centre. Also available, is Mitsubishi’s Multi Communication System (MMCS) with Voice Command via steering wheel controls, an 850-watt Rockford Acoustic Design 12-Speaker Premium Audio System and electro-chromatic rear-view mirror. As a result of its multifaceted characteristics the Pajero is extremely popular with families, businesses and individuals across the Sultanate.
